Happy Mothers Day!  Not only to "mothers" but also to the women who are a positive influence in the life of someone.

If I could I would send everyone flowers. Just because I love flowers and I know they can brighten anyone's day! So - imported especially for  today here is a virtual bouquet just for you and wishing you all the best of blessings for Mothers Day

This will be my second Mothers day without my Mum. It is a nice time to remember who she was, how she lived and to take the positive things from that in the way that I relate to those I love. To spend time with my precious family is the best gift I could have..so today was a perfect day!

Mothers are Special

The last two weeks have been difficult for me and my family. We lost my grandmother, my mom’s mom, last week. It was a very sad time, but also a joyous time. She has gone home to be with the Lord, but we will miss her greatly.

I learned a lot from my ‘memma’. I guess my favorite lessons learned were in the garden. I love to grow flowers and vegetables. Memma was an amazing gardener. She seemed to have a ‘green thumb’. She taught me pretty much everything I know about growing things.

This coming Sunday is Mother’s Day here in the USA. I know it will be hard for my mom. She was very close to my grandmother and loved her very much. She spent a lot of time with her the past couple of years as “memma” developed Alzheimer’s disease. It was very difficult watching her mind change and seeing a very independent woman become so dependent.

I plan on spending all day Sunday with my mom. She is very special to me. She is a close friend, a spiritual mentor, my biggest supporter and my precious ‘mom’.

I am so blessed and thankful for my mom and my grandmomma. They are each a very big part of who I am today.

If your mom is still living today and you are able, spend some time with her this weekend. Reminisce about days gone by. Share some favorite memories with one another. Tell her how much you love her and how special she is to you.

Make it the best mother’s day ever for the both of you!!

Learning Useful Skills Around the Home : A Kristi Kreme Post

krisitkremeimage.jpg

Our family lives in an old apple orchard. My parents live across the street from us on a gravel road. My parents own forty-four acres around us and we own about four acres around our house. Needless to say we have A LOT of grass to cut during the spring, summer and fall.

Our teen boys have found that grass cutting pays pretty good. When our oldest son was still home, he did the entire big lawn mower cutting.  My sixteen year old son now does the big lawn mower cutting, while my fourteen year old son does the weed-eating and push mower work.

They have a pretty good system going, as long as the weather cooperates. Each week they keep the grass cut around both houses, by the pond and cabin, and up and down the sides of the road. My husband still likes riding the tractor and doing the bush-hogging, so the boys haven’t started that task yet. Who knows maybe one day they will do that job too.

Anyway, it has been a good experience for each of them. They have learned what hard work is and how it can pay off. They have also learned how expensive it can be with the gas prices going up every day. There have been many lessons learned, especially when the lawn mower accidentally slid into the pond!!

Encourage your Entrepreneurs to try hard work, of the physical kind! The experience gained will enhance anything else they may be working on.

    Tip of The Week

In a recent email conversation with Jane Galay, our new time management expert at www.EAHLive.com, we were discussing

    " planning to plan".

Jane had this to say "This IS the challenge, to live above "The Line", where our time is invested in that which is most important instead of drowning in the unimportant, so we CAN pursue that which is MOST IMPORTANT!"

Where does our help come from? A Kristi Kreme Post.

 krisitkremeimage.jpg

This world is tough. Raising children in this world is really tough. As Christian homeschoolers, we strive to protect and train our children in God’s ways.  We want our children to become all that God has for them to be, and we guide them towards becoming godly and mature young men and ladies.
Training children in this day and age is far from easy. We are in a competition with the ways of the world.  There are so many distractions, good and bad, that can get in the way and cause us to lose our focus.
As parents, we can get distracted by ministries at our church. We can get distracted with our jobs and careers. We can easily lose our focus when stress gets us down. This stress can come from financial problems, health problems, relationship struggles, and many other stress factors.
It can be so easy to let life’s worries get in the way of leading our children in the path that God has for them. As moms, we have many ‘job titles’ that require our time and attention. It is important for us to be organized and to focus on the most important task first, and let the unimportant things slide.
We can sometimes be discouraged when we don’t see the fruit in our children that we have tried so hard to cultivate. So it’s very crucial that we daily spend time with the Lord, and receive His filling, His strength, and His wisdom for the day. Without His guidance, we are like ships in the wind, floundering around and tossed by the waves of life.

 Till next week… Kristi.

Letting Go: A Kristi Kreme Post

krisitkremeimage.jpg

It’s a wonderful day today. I have all my chicks at home. My oldest son is home from college for a week of spring break. He attends a college about nine hours from our home, and so we don’t see him as often as we would like.

All three of my boys have been homeschooled their entire education. They are currently eighth grade, tenth grade and second year college. It has been the biggest blessing for me and my husband. I can’t imagine education any other way.

We are a very close family, with strong relationships. My boys and my husband are my best friends. I can’t imagine life without them. They are my joy and my life.

I would rather hang out with my ‘guys’ than with anyone else on this earth.

Needless to say, allowing my oldest son to go so far away to college was the hardest thing I have ever done as a mother. I thought my heart would just die.

At first I missed him so much that I would go into his room and just sit. Sometimes I would lie on his bed and cry. Sometimes I had to keep the door to his room closed so I couldn’t see into it.

We talked on the phone a lot. He even initiated some of the calls. I missed him SO much. My heart would ache for all my boys to be together in the same house, playing their guitars, wrestling, laughing and being loud.

Over time God has helped me to not hurt so much. I still miss my son desperately when he is at college, but I have more peace and contentment with him being gone. I know in my heart that God is using this time away to train him and mold him into the man he needs to be.

Letting go of our children when they are older is difficult and painful, but it is right and good. It stretches our faith and shows us that God is in control, as always, and He loves them even more than we do.We need to always remember that our home is the foundational training ground for our children’s future endeavors. This time at home is short but oh so sweet.
